This calculator is designed for people who are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy body weight. It will help you determine the amount of calories you need to consume each day in order to lose weight, gain muscle, or maintain your current weight.

Weight Loss Calculator is a free app that allows you to input your body weight, height, age, and gender. From there, it will calculate your daily calorie intake based on the information you provided.

It’s a question I get all the time from new Coaching clients:

“I’ve been meticulously recording my calorie intake and expenditure… However, I am not shedding the weight that I should be. “How come this isn’t working?!?”

Yes, common knowledge indicates that cutting your calorie intake (or increasing your burn) by 500 calories per day will result in a weekly fat loss of roughly 1 pound. (Math: 500 calories each day multiplied by seven days is 3500 calories per week, or one pound.)

However, conventional wisdom is incorrect. Your metabolism is adaptive, as detailed in this essay about the fallacy of metabolic harm. Your metabolism slows as you consume less, defying traditional calorie-balance ideas.

Based on the NIH Body Weight Planner and adapted from research collected at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, this excellent weight loss calculator takes into account the adaptive nature of metabolism and provides more accurate information on how hard you’ll have to work (and how long it might take) to reach your goals.

(Read on to find out why this calculator is more advanced than many others.)

Let’s look at an example customer, Vanessa, to see why this calculator is so useful.

She is 40 years old, 5′ 6″ tall, 185 pounds, and has a low level of work activity and a moderate level of exercise activity.

The calculator has calculated that she need approximately 2,445 calories per day to maintain her weight.

Let’s imagine Vanessa wants to drop 40 pounds (for a goal weight of 145 pounds) in a healthy way over the following year without doing any additional activity.

According to the calculator, she’ll need to cut her daily calorie intake to roughly 1,770. (That’s 675 calories less than you’d need to stay in shape.)

These figures don’t add up when calculated using traditional calorie calculations.

A daily calorie loss of 675 calories would result in a year-long deficit of 246,375 calories. (Math: a calorie deficit of 675 calories multiplied by 365 days equals 246,375 calories.)

Vanessa may hypothetically lose 70 pounds as a result of this. (Calculation: 246,375 calorie deficit / 3,500 calories per pound of weight = 70 pounds lost.)

However, the human body does not function in this manner. Vanessa, on the other hand, would only lose roughly 40 pounds. (Which, obviously, is still wonderful.)

Why is there such a significant disparity?

As previously stated, as you consume less and lose weight, your metabolism changes. Furthermore, traditional math ignores the complicated nature of human metabolism.

That’s why it’s crucial to make sure your weight-loss and body-change expectations are in accordance with how your body actually functions.

This calculator can assist you with that. It’s easier to set acceptable behavior objectives with it, and it gives you a more realistic picture of your possible improvement.

Additional Advantages of this Weight Loss Calculator

The Weight Loss Calculator is unique for a variety of reasons.

It not only considers your personal information (height, weight, age, and sex), physical activity levels, and the amount of weight you wish to lose, but it also allows you to:

  • Select your preferred diet. (Paleo, keto, vegetarian, entirely plant-based/vegan, Mediterranean, and, of course, “anything” are all options.)
  • Make a change in your macronutrient preferences. (If desired, adjust the carbohydrate, fat, or protein amounts to suit your needs.)
  • To keep track of your food intake, use “hand portions.” (See below for more information.)

The Weight Loss Calculator uses all of this data to predict your calorie and macronutrient requirements. It also translates those figures into meal portions that are the same size as parts of your hands. (Take your palm, fist, thumb, and cupped hand, for example.)

The advantage: You won’t have to weigh and measure your food or enter the data of each meal into a food tracking app again.

Instead, you may save time and effort by using our hand portion monitoring system to keep track of your calories and macros while still meeting your goals.

When you enter your information into the Weight Loss Calculator, it will develop a FREE nutrition plan that is tailored to your body, preferences, and objectives, and will show you exactly what to do.
